Did you know that the word "ghetto" most likely originates from Italy?Word is that way back in the 1500's, after Jews migrated to Italy, they were shipped off to this grimy island by the Italians. Today, the "Ghetto Nuovo" is located in the island of Venice (see map). Nowdays, in America, the "ghetto" population is mostly ethnic "minorities."
