Back when T-Mobile was a fairly new carrier in the states (2002), I bought my first cell phone EVER. I remember getting a Motorola. I had no reception at my apartment so I went back to the store to change the phone. They gave me a cute lil Nokia. I had one signal bar inside my apartment. Didn't think much of it since I had a home phone and didn't use it much since the job I held at the time gave me a cell phone. Needless to say, reception problems at the moment weren't a biggie. And then I quit my job, which made the no-reception issue, AN ISSUE. So I canceled my contract with them after a year. Paid their cancellation fee happily and went to bed with Sprint. I LOVED sprint. I had service everywhere I went. Anywhere in the States I visited. Puerto Rico. Canada. It worked like a charm and I was totally in-love with my phone carrier.
Flash forward 8 years and here I am. Sprint's greatness stopped working in Puerto Rico. A couple friends swore by T-Mobile. I figured it had been 8 years since my really bad experience with them, so I decided to give them a second chance. Well, I don't fucking believe in second chances so I have no fucking clue as to why I decided to give T-Mobile the benefit of the doubt. I should have backed out of the transaction when they told me I only had FOURTEEN days to cancel the contract and be free of the cancellation fee. The thought crossed my mind that it was too lil time to find out if the phone/service worked. Didn't listen to my gut and now I'm paying for it.
Needless to say, after plenty consideration (and nasty cell phone related headaches), I have decided to cancel my T-mobile contract. My experience with their service is just not up to par with the amount of money they require me to pay them every month. The fact that I simply want to make an uninterrupted phone call every now and again is not an outrageous request. T-mobile will officially be $200 richer. T-MOBILE SUCKS!
Enter Boost Mobile powered by, yes, the SPRINT network. I know, I know... Why go back to "Sprint" you ask? Well, since I'm moving back to the States (and I KNOW Sprint works over there), I figured I'll take my chances with Boost Mobile here. Their EVERYTHING BLACKBERRY Plan is just amazingly cheap. Add to that that my experience in Puerto Rico with Sprint wasn't as bad as my experience with T-Mobile. So now I'm the owner of a BlackBerry Curve 8330. And yes, I know it's not the latest model, but it does come upgraded since it was just released this year for Boost Mobile with CDMA technology. IDEN no more (tho Boost's "chirping" commercials were funny). I've never been too techie regarding cell phones so this will take me a while to break in. Good thing I found this link where I got to download the 2004 edition of BlackBerry for Dummies. I'll be busy reading that for the next few days. I've heard that BlackBerry use is addictive. I guess I'll find out.
Moving is a pain in the ass. More importantly… it’s a pain in MY ass. Never really noticed how much SHIT I accumulated in a 7 ½ year term. I mean… I own so much stuff, my belongings have actually made the task of packing overwhelming. How did I accumulate so much crap?!?!
One thing is for sure… I will do my VERY BEST to never ever every try own as much crap as I do now. Life should be simple… clean… easy! So that’s my new rule. The simpler the room the better it looks. There’s no need to have 20,000 picture albums when there’s technology that will put all those pictures in one (or a couple) of CDs. There’s no need to hold on to video game consoles when you only have the urge to play video games once a year. There’s no need to save check stubs from 2006 when its 2010. There’s no need to have 17 tubes of lotion when you never put that shit on. From now on I will be more conscious of what I buy and WHY I’m buying it.
Quote taken from a YouTube comment: "One day NY will be swallowed by the Ocean and it will become a reef. That would make some great scuba diving. "
North American cities I’ve visited? I have been to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Tampa, Orlando, Boca Raton, Chicago, Cleveland, Toronto, Montreal (I DID say NORTH American cities), and last but not least... Manhattan.
Maybe I should say I hate Manhattan... Downtown, Uptown but ESPECIALLY Midtown. I LOVE upstate New York but Manhattan, my dear friends, is where I spend most of my waking hours, so Manhattan is pretty much where I “live” (even though my bed is in New Jersey). So… for this blog entry purpose, when I say New York, I mean NYC.
I am so SICK AND TIRED of those people that DON’T live in NYC or work in NYC that say “I love New York”. Yeah, well… It’s pretty darn easy to love a city when you don’t live there. You can't possibly experience the REALITY of a city by just visiting once a year (or once in a lifetime). If you’re just a visitor, of course you’re gonna love it! You’re not working, so you get to bum around all damn day, go to Broadway shows, stroll around without a care in the world, take in the lights, the movement, you see all these restaurants around, street performers, underground hip bars, subways... All this shit makes you feel “cool” when you don’t have it in your daily life. Think deep tho… If you are just visiting, you are in no position to say you LOVE NEW YORK. You don’t know what New York is.
I remember the first time I came to NYC on vacation. I remember how I couldn't shut up about how I LOVED it here! Then again, I had no fucking clue what the fuck I was talking about. Visiting is NOT the same as living in this dump! I had a friend once who kept saying over and over and over again that New York was one of her favorite cities. That she LOVED it. She felt strongly about that love. Still, when she came to visit, she wouldn’t get near the subway. How the FUCK can you LOVE New York and not want to take the subway? The subway tunnels are like the fucking VEINS of NYC! After drilling a bit, you know what I found out? She just loved the Broadway shows and the museums cause that’s all she knew about NYC. I simply rolled my eyes. This is why most tourists (or people from UPSTATE NY love Manhattan. They just don’t have a fucking clue!
I have a friend who lives in Queens. She’s the SWEETEST person on EARTH I’ve ever met! I swear to the heavens that up until now, I have NEVER meet such a nice person. One morning I Tweet “I hate New York”, and after a few back and forth Tweets, she tells me this: “I remember once I was in the city, I slipped and fell (raining day) and everyone just kept walking past me and on top of me...”
One time I was waiting in line at a clothing store to pay for a couple of work shirts. This costumer was backing up the line since she was trying to argue (in Spanish – the Cashier was American) a return she wanted to make. Since I know both languages, I decided to help and translate for them both. It took us all a total of 43 minutes to get everything resolved. In the mentality of a newyorker, I lost 43 PRECIOUS minutes of my life. And guess what? I didn’t even get a “Thanks”. Not from the Cashier, not from the Costumer, not from the Manager. Not in English, not in Spanish.
The sadness of it all, is that I have become one of them. Survival of the fittest. One either adapts or gets pushed to the floor and walked over. I no longer hold the door open for people. I no longer say good morning or thank you. I no longer say bless you when strangers sneeze. I no longer take the time to give people directions. Most of the times I hesitate before helping someone. This saddens me, but it is the truth.
Not so long ago I read an article that excused newyorkers by saying that newyorkers are not rude, they just speak their minds. Believe me, I am ALL about speaking your mind, but when you bump onto someone cause you’re in such a rush (maybe you should have left a lil early, that way you wouldn’t be running late?) and you don’t say “sorry”… THAT’S RUDE. When someone holds a door open for a stranger to walk in and that stranger doesn’t say “thanks”… THAT’S RUDE. When someone trips and falls and no one goes to her help and people just keep walking without a care in the world… THAT’S RUDE. I’ve heard newyorkers say that they are determined, and assertive people, but that doesn’t give them the right to be total ASSHOLES.
So besides the ASSHOLES that live and hang in NYC what else is wrong with it you ask? Well, let me clue you in...
Lets talk a bit about "status" shall we? In NYC if you’re from Jersey its looked down upon. If you’re from Uptown, you got dough, if you’re from Downtown, you must be artsy, and forget about these two worlds mixing up. No idea what being from the Westside or Eastside means, nor I care a flying fuck to know. One thing I have noticed over the years here is that "what you do, is what makes you", and "who you know, will take you places". It is a very selfish city... Everybody's out for themselves and trying to find who they can meet to advance themselves in the "game." What you do for a living will earn you acquaintances (not to be confused with the word "friends" which gets tossed out there often). Tell them you’re a secretary, and you’re at the bottom of the barrel. Tell them you’re a legal assistant, they look at you in a different light. Tell them you’re an attorney and the world is your playground.
There’s WAY TOO MANY PEOPLE IN THIS DAMN CITY! Everybody is up in your damn space. Imagine crowded elevators, crowded buses, crowded subways, crowded crosswalks/streets, crowded coffee places... They cough on you, they sneeze on you, you have to smell their stench, their farts, walk all over their garbage. Yes, cause where there's people, there’s garbage and NYC is fucking FULL of them both
Oooooh and it wouldnt be NYC if it didn't have its long time friends lurking around.... Like garbage, where there’s masses of people, stupidity reigns... people waving their hands while talking on the sidewalk, the same sidewalk people are trying to walk on to get to their destination. Diagonal walkers when most of us are trying to walk straight... I just want to kick them every time I encounter them which is pretty much every damn day! People that walk forward while looking up, or to their right, or their left, or even looking back! How come you haven’t been hit by a bus yet??? Please DO!!!! ....
NYC IS WAY TOO DAMN EXPENSIVE! Everything is expensive! The rent, the clothes, the food, museums (if you don’t know your way around THAT), Broadway shows, even fucking bottled water is expensive here. Who wants to pay $5 for a bottle of water? CERTAINLY NOT ME! Taxis charge you to basically open their car door... subways fares keep going up.
Even the damn weather sucks here! We get like 2 to 3 weeks of perfect weather and it’s not all in a row! Yeah... I know what you all "I love the snow" people are thinking. I love it too! I love ONLY the first time that snows and ONLY if it snows on a Friday night or a Saturday. Nobody... and I can assure you this is true... NOBODY wants to commute in the snow. Tell me I'm wrong so I can beat some sense into you!
Snow is ONLY white when its falling from the sky.
Most people I’ve encountered in this city are inconsiderate, selfish, disrespectful, out for blood, cutthroat, ruthless, sneaky, lying sons of bitches. Truth of the matter is that there are 8+ million people in NYC and you are bound to find every personality type imaginable here, and I am by no means saying that ALL newyorkers are rude, but I can certainly vouch for the people I encounter every fucking day in this damned city.
I can’t fucking wait to get out of here. My world will definitely be a better place.
I leave you now with two videos. The first one is an EXCELLENT monologue scene from a NYC movie called "25th Hour". The second one is a very funny lady that almost made me pee my pants cause I just couldn't stop laughing. Enjoy!
“Adam Lambert is a popular topic on Twitter right now. ABC's Good Morning America canceled his Nov. 25 appearance due to the sexual nature of his performance at the American Music Awards. He will instead appear on CBS's The Early Show.”
Pictures from Lambert's AMA's performance:
Here’s a funny... When I was a teenager (and then young adult), I couldn’t wait to come to USA cause I thought USA was more of a liberal country than my lil island. Instead, I found 3 states full of sissies with STREETLIGHT POLES up their assholes getting all scandalized about the most stupidest/trivial things in the world. So Britney spears kissed Madonna… so Janet Jackson showed her tit… so Adam Lambert mimicked public dick sucking and made out with half his male crew while performing at the AMA’s. SO… FUCKING… WHAT??? Aren’t there more vital things to worry about than an openly gay young man and what he does with his mouth? Like, hell, I don't know… World hunger? War? Government corruption? Unemployment? WHO IS REALLY RAISING YOUR FUCKING KIDS???? It’s a fucking music show for Pete’s sake! Aren’t music (performances) supposed to be an outlet for whatever it is the artist wants to convey? WHAT THE FUCK EVER HAPPEN TO FREEDOM OF SPEECH?!?!?! YEAH… THAT THING THAT USA KEEPS SAYING WE HAVE BUT YET THE PEOPLE KEEP OPPRESSING?!?!?! If the viewers were so horrified about it, then why the fuck did they watch the whole thing? You know, there’s PLENTY of buttons on that remote control. Tune out for a couple minutes… five minutes tops! And then go back to the AMA’s. What about Rihanna's performance.... Did anyone say anything about what she was wearing? Or the lack of???
She got to do GMA after this.
I’m so fucking sick of this American hypocrisy!
SO I SAY... SUCK ON THIS, TO ALL OF YOU CONSERVATIVE AMERICAN TV VIEWERS!
Maybe I should mail this to the establishment, but I have no idea who to address it to. Sorry... I'm getting ahead of myself here. Let me give you the full story.
SIX thumbs down (I’m taking two friends’ pair of thumbs for this one) for “Cabin Down Below”!!! I am appalled at the treatment my friends and I received at this place. I will not be biased in this ‘lil rant, I promise. I will admit that the place is very cozy (when not packed with youngsters and when the music is at a reasonable volume), dimly lit (which I LOVED), fair priced drinks (which “regular” people like me are always happy to buy), and certainly LOVED the fact that they have a ‘lil smoking area easily accessible for customers. So for those points mentioned above… Kudos!
Now lets get down to business! I have gone to TONS of bars, lounges and clubs since I reached the “legal” age to drink 13 years ago (in my country *back then* the legal drinking age was 18). I have been doing the whole bar/lounge hopping in NYC for 7 years now and I had NEVER encountered an experience such as the one I did last weekend. So I’m chilling with my friends, drinking, talking, laughing and then I decided to take a ‘lil video with my crappy phone in the darkness of this basement. Imagine my surprise when a man with a pissed off face approached me and snappishly says:
Douche: “You can’t take videos here. Stop filming”.
-- I was utterly annoyed at his tone and attitude which made me say the first thing that came to mind (which I kept repeating throughout the whole one minute confrontation)
Me: “But you can’s see anything, its too dark!” Douche: “I don’t care, I’m telling you to not do it.” Me: “Its dark, you can’s see anything.” (I pointed at the image on my phone which was pitch black) Douche: “I don’t care! If I tell you to stop filming you stop filming! I don’t care if you take pictures of your group but don’t point the camera at other people!” Me: “I wasn’t taking a video of anybody in particular, and either way, you can’s see anything, its too dark!!!”
Chill pill anyone?
Douche turned around and left.
At this point my friends and I are in shock. What did just happen? The nice mood we were in was gone. We were like “WTF was that all about??”
About five minutes pass by and then Douche makes a reappearance…
Douche: “I THINK I want you all to leave.” Friend #1: “WHAT?” Friend #2: “WHAT?” Me: “WHAT?” Douche: “Yeah, I THINK I want you to leave. I was told you’ve been taking pictures of people entering the bar. If you leave now, I might not recognize your faces and maybe you can come here some other time.”
I’m pretty sure our face expressions spoke LOUDER than words.
I couldn’t believe this! Were we really being “kinda” kicked out of a bar??? My friends and I are respectful, hard working women that just wanted to have some cheap drinks on a hot summer night and have a good time. Was this Douche-Bag REALLY kicking us out??? We were FAR from the entrance door sitting on a “booth-like” area, minding our business talking about… “stuff”. Whatever, the point is that the least of our concerns was who was walking in or walking out. So he was TOTALLY BSing us! He just wanted us out (funny he didn’t have the balls to say “get out” and hid behind “I THINK I want you to leave”. But we had drinks and we had no intentions of throwing them out.
Ok, back to the argument:
Friend #2: “We took pictures of US!” (she pulls out the camera and shows a picture. He looks at it). Me: “Yeah, I’ll show you the video if you want, you can’t see anything in it.” (I told you I said that throughout the whole “word exchange”, lol) Douche: “I don’t care, you can’t take video.” Me: “We didn’t know video wasn’t allowed. Maybe you should put up a sign that says so.”
And while he’s at it, maybe he should put up a few other signs…
This went on and on until Douche decided to leave us alone.
At this point, we were just so annoyed that we made the decision to leave the premises (either way we were going to meet up with another friend), but before leaving I went to the smoking area, grabbed a cancer stick and inhaled that sucker until there was no more, aaaaaand we bounced!
Oh, lets not dismiss that in the few minutes that passed from the second confrontations, my friends “bumped” into him on their way to/from the bathroom and he was still a total manner-less DOUCHE!
A question floats in my mind: Had we received the same nasty disrespectful treatment if we were skinny blondes with fake tits and fake tans, wearing hooker dresses and stilettos? I THINK NOT!
I’ve always said there’s a good and a bad way to say unpleasant things (a/k/a the truth). This idiot certainly chose the latter!
Needless to say, I will not spend another dime in this place. As long as I’m well behaved, I deserve to be treated with RESPECT and like a human being everywhere I go!
So here’s to HOPING that Douche-Bag does a Google search about this place, and this blog pops up. I truly hope he reads it one day. Maybe he should submit an application to appear in MTV’s “TOOL ACADEMY”… or maybe he just needs to be sent straight to VH1’s “CHARM SCHOOL”!
It was a gray rainy morning on July 21, 2009 , when I found out that “Remember Me” would be filming 4 short blocks away from my own personal hell (a/k/a place of work). All hail the rain!!! Bad weather, less fans… No paps pictures on sight. No tweets galore. (Side note: Allow me to send a big wave and and a “HOLLA!” to all those IDIOTS that tweet play by play regarding what’s happening on set. Now… WTF do I care if you’re standing by or on the garbage? Too bad the garbage truck didn’t come and take you with it!). Sorry I got sidetracked. Lets continue… So yeah, all of those factors mentioned before could amount to the so awaited picture with His Majesty (a/k/a Robert Pattinson). YESSSSSS! The one and ONLY! Oooooh the possibilities! One’s GOTS to lurrrrve NYC! So exciting!!!
Clock turns 5:30 p.m. and I jet the hellz outta work! Make it to location in 10 minutes! Lemme tell ya, power walking is a bitch with my old knees but fuck-it! It’s fucking Robert Pattinson dammit! Crickets I hear, CRICKETS! Rpattz has been inside the building for hours, or so I’ve been told. Ok. I’ve got experience in the waiting department after a whole month of 100% stalking (well… 80% to be honest). I can wait! Hours pass by and no sighting. Nothing better than people watching. On a recession like ours, I’ll take as much free entertainment I can get! I start watching the PAs (what does PA stands for anyways? Personal Ass-wipe? Production Asshole? Pricks Anonymous? I could think of a few more but I don’t wanna bore you). Wait. I can’t believe my eyes! Ok, can someone explain to me why in the world would “Rpattz’ Fans” want to take pictures with the HELP? Please explain that to me because I must be stupid or something since I can’t grasp the concept! Ladies! It is NOT cute to look desperate. Nor it is cute to dress like a whore to impress… Hm… who exactly are you trying to “impress” again? Did you know the “Service People” make fun of your sorry ass as soon as you turn around? Yeah, YOU are NOT cool for crushing on the “crew”. Actually, its somewhat embarrassing and really painful to watch. Why are you girls stooping to their level? Which is NOT high at all, let me tell ya. Ever heard of the term “Self Respect”? Maybe you oughta google that! ;-) .
Sorry I totally got off the subject! LOL. Where was I? Oh yes, the waiting patiently. So I’m chilling with a few friends, waiting for His Majesty. Its 10:30-ish p.m. Have I really been waiting here for a whole FIVE hours??? Ok, I’m pathetic. Then again, I had no other plans. I’m a single woman with no kids (and IF I was a mother and crazy enough to do this shit, I would certainly NOT bring my baby all the way from TEXAS or have my 11 year old kid sit on a dirty NYC sidewalk while being rained on (oh how I WISH you’d read this! you TWO crazy ladies know who you are) . Someone should call Child Protective Services on your ASSES!
Sigh. So Rpattz’ car gets moved from the road to inside the building's garage. The garage door is closed so at this point I’m thinking we won't see the ‘lil fucker at all. Yet, the side door to the garage is still open (so I see a ‘lil ray of hope) and...
*queue suspense music*
… I see movement! Staff people are exiting the building through that side door. THIS IS IT!!! THEY ARE COMING OUT!!! We will be able to get a miserable glimpse of Mr. P! Something’s better than nothing, right? Bodyguards start making a “human barricade” between the 25 fans (give or take a few) and the street. OH-MY-WORD!!!! ITS PIERCE BROSNAN!!! All hail 007!!!! Sooo MANLY! Soooo SEXY! Some girls yell his name. He looks at us and I believe he waved too, though my old eyes can’t see well in the darkness and my memory fails me all the time, but its good to imagine he did. His Majesty should follow soon! We wait a couple of minutes. They close the side door to the garage, and this is what we see…
Now... WHAT A CROCK OF SHIT IS THIS!!! No, it’s not a question, it’s a fucking statement!
Yeah… This idiot had the nerve of: (1) getting in the car without allowing us take a peek, (2) allow the driver to honk the horn before driving away, (3) without even rolling down the stupid fucking window so we could see his nasty ass dirty hair and his scrawny sorry ass pale stubbly face! Now, correct me if I’m wrong, but… he DID chose to be an actor… right? Don’t male actors (the cute ones) get a big chunk of female followers? Isn’t that like… IDK… DEFAULT? Im pretty sure he knew it was a package deal. Didn’t he live that with the whole Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire movie? It’s a given that the fans surrounding him back then were certainly NOT interested in him but in Daniel Radcliff. But still, he SAW what comes with fame. I have to admit, I am very curious to know how is it that PIERCE BROSNAN is able to walk around with MAYBE one bodyguard, smile, take pictures with fans, signal the peace sign for pictures, talks to the homeless and other forms of appreciation, and yet… Robert Pattinson can’t do that.
Yeah, yeah, yeah… so he did “tend” to fans 3 days (prolly not even a 30 minute total in a whole month of filming?), still he never did so completely sober. Always smelling of alcohol and cigarrettes. Makes me wonder… is he really appreciative of the fans, or did "someone" make him come out and go through the dreading process of taking pictures with a handful of girls? Yeah, the same ones that buy his products, ergo, feeding his very mouth and ruining his bloody liver, staining his sodding lungs, paying for all his travels and buying his raggedy clothes!
All I'm saying is this... WE ALL BASICALLY PAY HIS FUCKING BILLS, AND HE CAN'T ROLL DOWN HIS STUPID PASSENGER'S SIDE WINDOW AND WAVE TO US? Oh, Excuse 'a moi Mr. President, I forgot we are just not worthy!
I am making a pact with me, myself and I that from now on I WILL NOT KNOWINGLY PURCHASE ANY SUMMIT ENTERTAINMENT MERCHANDISE and/or ANY OTHER PRODUCT WHERE ROBERT PATTINSON IS INVOLVED, because if I'm not worthy a push of a button, then he's not worth my hard earned money. Of course I have to exclude the whole Twilight (Movies) thing from this pact, since I've read the books and own the first movie, but besides that, no more "official" Twilight merchandise for me!
